They are a symbol of the life giving sun and your personal power. The whole pumpkin represents the world we live in now and is literally filled with blessings waiting to be granted. Each pumpkin seed represents an opportunity available to you in this life, and with an average pumpkin having about 500 seeds you can literally count your blessings!

Share this information with your family as you select the perfect pumpkin.

While you carve pumpkins, scoop the seeds out by handing them to each family member.

Ask what good things they would like to see grow from these opportunity seeds. Then wash the seeds (and everyone’s hands!!) and lay them out to dry. Give each family member a handful of dry seeds to keep as a reminder of the blessings to come. Tell them when a blessing or opportunity occurs to drop one of their seeds into a family jar. Now, when pumpkin season comes around next year, your family will have a visual reminder and together you can count the many ways your lives were blessed.
